‘ We have enjoyed our stay in your very peaceful village, lovely walks with pup and relaxing time. Thank you and regards. P.S. Very enjoyable meal in the pub and friendly staff, try it! ’

The North Devon Cottages are situated at the wonderful 16th century Exeter Inn, a fantastic thatched public house perfect for settling down for a meal or a friendly drink with locals. The cottages are great for those looking to enjoy the local area with plenty of local footpaths, cycle routes and nearby attractions, including the Highbullen Golf and Country Club.

Three of the cottages are found at the rear of the inn located along the aptly nicknamed Exeter Courtyard. These cottages include Next Door, a character one bedroom cottage, Highway, a lovely one bedroom cottage with additional sinlge bed to accommodate a third guest if required, and finally the two bedroom New Coach House, which sleeps up to four. The final self-contained apartment is the Exeter Suite, which is situated on the first floor of the inn and benefits from its own private entrance.

The cottages are located between two picturesque valleys, where the rivers Taw and Mole can be discovered. This beautiful area is known by many as the Tarka Country, thanks to the classic novel written by Henry Williamson. The Tarka Trail, a traffic-free cycle route and pathway, is within easy reach of the cottages and is a great way of exploring the stunning scenery that has visitors returning to North Devon year after year.

Within the local area there is an array of excellent golf courses; one of these is located just down the road at the Highbullen Golf and Country Club, where there is also a range of other leisure facilities on offer. The 18-hole course at Highbullen has gorgeous views of the countryside, which stretch for miles towards Exmoor. Other courses include those at Saunton and Westward Ho! where the coastal scenery is equally magnificent.

The North Devon Cottages are also within easy reach of many of North Devon's well-loved towns and villages, including historic Clovelly, the seaside resorts of Appledore and Instow, and Lynton and Lynmouth where Exmoor meets the sea.

To fully explore the beautiful North Devon coastline hop on board one of the many boat trips that set sail from a number of the seaside towns and villages. One of the most popular is the boat trip to Lundy Island from Ilfracombe or Bideford on board the MS Oldenburg.

If you would prefer to head inland then why not explore the wonders of the Exmoor National Park? This large rural landscape is home to the red deer and Exmoor pony, as well as featuring stunning views. Make the most of the park by stopping off at one of the local tea rooms or pubs.
